Burr & Forman LLP has an immediate opening for a full-time governmental affairs coordinator in the Columbia, SC office.  Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the successful candidate will perform a variety of administrative duties for the Governmental Affairs practice group attorneys and lobbyists.

KEY CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Handle administrative functions for lobbyists and attorneys including but not limited to expense reimbursement requests, entering time, ethics disclosures, and review of pre-bills
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, calendars, and meetings
  • Coordinate and organize legislative social events/receptions for clients and legislators
  • Monitor remotely Senate/House Committee and Subcommittee meetings; draft summaries and reports of meetings; prepare client reports
  • Interact with staff of legislators on a daily basis

THE ESSENTIALS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of the law and legal procedures at a level normally acquired through legislative or legal internship or exposure to the legislative process
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with a diverse group of clients, attorneys, legislators and staff
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with minimal supervision
