We currently have an opening in the Columbia, South Carolina office for a Real Estate Associate.
This position is ideal for individuals with a strong academic background, including those who may be in their third year of law school or currently in a legal clerkship. No prior real estate experience is required; however, a strong interest in real estate law, attention to detail, and the ability to quickly learn and adapt are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating real estate contracts, leases, and other legal documents.
- Support senior attorneys in due diligence processes, including title reviews, zoning compliance, and contract management.
- Conduct research on legal issues related to real estate transactions, land use, and property law.
- Attend and assist in client meetings and negotiations, providing insights based on legal research and analysis.
- Draft and prepare documents for closings, including real estate sale agreements, financing documents, and closing checklists.
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external parties to ensure smooth real estate transactions.
- Assist with compliance and regulatory matters, including zoning and land use regulations.
Qualifications:
- Strong academic performance, with a demonstrated interest in real estate, property law, or corporate law.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- A proactive, problem-solving attitude with an eagerness to learn.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Prior experience in any legal field, even if unrelated to real estate, will be considered a plus but is not required.
