Overview: As a Benefits Experience Specialist at Litera, you will serve as a trusted resource for employees and leaders across the United States, ensuring our US benefits programs are competitive, compliant, and well-understood. You will manage day-to-day US benefits administration, partner with vendors and internal stakeholders, support annual open enrollment activities, and drive continuous improvement of the employee experience. You will also provide support to global People/Total Rewards partners by sharing best practices, coordinating with vendors where needed, and helping ensure consistent processes across regions.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits questions, eligibility, enrollments, and life events, ensuring timely and accurate support.
Administer benefit plans (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, wellness, and voluntary programs), coordinating with carriers/brokers and internal partners.
Maintain accurate benefits data in HRIS and ensure deductions and vendor files are processed correctly; partner with Payroll/HRIS to resolve issues.
Support annual enrollment planning and execution, including timelines, testing, communications, and employee education.
Partner with vendors to troubleshoot claims escalations and service issues, advocating for employees while protecting plan integrity.
Own US benefits compliance administration and annual requirements support (as applicable), including required notices and plan documents (e.g., ERISA/SPDs, SBCs, COBRA, HIPAA) and coordination for items such as ACA administration/reporting, Form 5500 data collection, and PCORI fee support.
Support US benefits renewals and vendor/broker management by gathering data, coordinating deliverables and service levels, and assisting with plan comparisons and recommendations.
Deliver benefit orientations and targeted education sessions; create clear, inclusive communications for employees in multiple locations.
Conduct audits/reconciliations to ensure data integrity across HRIS, vendors, and payroll deductions; document and resolve variances and provide basic reporting/insights to inform program improvements.
Provide supporting coordination for non-US benefits programs by partnering with regional People teams and vendors on shared processes (e.g., enrollment timelines, communications templates, and data integrity), without being the primary owner for local plan design or compliance.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in US benefits administration/benefits operations or total rewards (benefits-focused), including managing medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement programs.
Working knowledge of HRIS and benefits platforms; experience with Workday required.
Strong understanding of benefit plan fundamentals (eligibility, enrollments, deductions, claims, and vendor file processes).
Experience partnering cross-functionally with Payroll, HR, Finance, and external brokers/carriers to deliver a high-quality employee experience.
Strong attention to detail and comfort working with confidential information, audits/reconciliations, and process documentation.
Knowledge of US benefits regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA) is preferred; exposure to benefits practices in other countries/regions is a plus.
