Overview: The Director of Project Management & PMO is a transformative senior leader responsible for architecting and scaling an enterprise‑grade Project Management Office that becomes a strategic engine for growth, operational excellence, and customer impact. This role goes beyond governance: it drives measurable business value by accelerating time‑to‑value, improving customer sentiment, and enabling customer‑delighting outcomes that fuel loyalty and referrals. The ideal candidate has successfully built PMOs in dynamic environments, led complex cross‑functional initiatives, and knows how to turn strategy into execution with speed, clarity, and discipline. This leader will shape how the organization prioritizes, delivers, and measures its most critical initiatives, ensuring every project contributes to stronger customer experiences and tangible business results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish enterprise‑wide PMO governance including frameworks, processes, templates, and reporting standards.

  • Lead and mentor a team of project and program managers to ensure consistent, high‑quality delivery.

  • Oversee the full project portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and resource capacity.

  • Partner with executive leadership to define project scope, success criteria, and prioritization models.

  • Implement scalable project methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid) tailored to organizational needs.

  • Drive cross‑functional execution across technology, operations, finance, and business units.

  • Develop executive‑level dashboards and reporting to communicate progress, risks, and ROI.

  • Champion continuous improvement in project delivery, tooling, and team capability.

  • Ensure risk management discipline including mitigation planning, escalation paths, and dependency tracking.

  • Lead change management efforts to support adoption of new processes, systems, and organizational initiatives.

  • Accelerate time‑to‑value by optimizing project intake, reducing cycle times, and ensuring rapid deployment of high‑impact initiatives.

  • Embed customer‑centric delivery practices that improve customer sentiment, NPS, and referral rates across key programs.

  • Partner with Product, CX, and Operations to ensure projects directly support customer experience improvements and measurable value creation.

  • Implement fast‑feedback loops to validate assumptions early, reduce rework, and shorten delivery timelines.

  • Drive adoption of solutions that enhance customer outcomes, ensuring smooth handoffs from project delivery to operational teams.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of project/program leadership with proven success in enterprise‑level delivery.

  • Experience building or transforming a PMO in a mid‑size or large organization.

  • Expertise in portfolio management including prioritization, resource planning, and financial oversight.

  • Strong command of project methodologies (PMP, Agile, Lean, Six Sigma preferred).

  • Advanced stakeholder management with the ability to influence at all levels, including C‑suite.

  • Exceptional communication and executive‑ready reporting skills.

  • Proficiency with PM tools such as Smartsheet, Jira, Asana, MS Project, or similar.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and drive adoption of new processes.

  • Financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, and cost‑benefit analysis.

  • High emotional intelligence and leadership maturity with a coaching‑oriented approach.

  • Proven track record accelerating time‑to‑value through process optimization, Agile adoption, or portfolio rationalization.

  • Experience improving customer sentiment metrics (NPS, CSAT, CES) through cross‑functional program leadership.

  • Ability to translate customer insights into project prioritization and delivery strategies.

  • Strong change leadership to ensure customer‑impacting initiatives are adopted quickly and effectively.

Pay Transparency Notice for Massachusetts, Illinois, Colorado, New Jersey and New York Applicants:

The annual salary range for this position is $100,000 to $145,000. Actual compensation is determined by factors including education, work experience, certifications, and other relevant qualifications. Litera offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company contribution, and incentive and recognition programs. All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.
