Where You’ll Work

Hybrid: This is a hybrid role can be based in any of the following locations with the expectations to be in office at least 3 days a week for collaboration and connection.

Office Locations: Toronto, Denver, Raleigh, Holmdel (NJ), Philadelphia, Chicago

Why this Role Matters

As Manager, Legal Knowledge Engineering, you’ll lead the development of one or more of Litera’s legal tech products. You’ll guide a team of Legal Knowledge Engineering Associates, oversee testing outcomes, and help shape how our products extract meaningful insights from legal documents. You’ll also experiment with prompting large language models (LLMs) and define rigorous testing standards to ensure our AI solutions are accurate, reliable, and impactful.

What You'll Deliver

• Working with our product/engineering/design teams to help set the vision for new legal tech products and features within Kira and the rest of Litera.
• Experimenting and testing Generative AI to ensure our products are built the best they can be.
• Creating prompts to allow for the accurate extraction of information from a document set.
• Designing, conducting and analyzing robust AI testing.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of developments in your legal domain and continuously identify new opportunities to build into the products.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, gain efficiencies, and share best practices.

What You'll Bring

Must-Haves:

• 4+ years practicing transactional law (large law firm, in-house, or legal service provider)
• Hands-on experience working with AI — prompting, training, or building AI-driven products
• JD, with admission to the bar in at least one state/province
• Strong interest in legal technology and artificial intelligence
• Strong client service skills with excellent written and verbal communication
• Experience with legal operations, program management, or contract management systems is a plus

Nice to Haves:

• Previous experience working at a tech company, before or after practicing law
• A track record of spotting workflow inefficiencies and finding ways to fix them
• Comfort experimenting with new or unfamiliar technology, including "vibe coding"
• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities independently

Pay Transparency for Colorado, New Jersey, & Illinois Applicants

The base salary range for this role is $110,000 to $130,000 USD. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, education, and other relevant qualifications. This role is also eligible to participate in a company bonus plan. In addition to base salary, Litera offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with company match, and incentive and recognition programs. Benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.

Pay Transparency Notice for Canada Only Applicants:

The annual salary range for this position is $150,000 to $180,000 CAD. Actual compensation is determined by factors including education, work experience, certifications, and other relevant qualifications. Litera offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company contribution, and incentive and recognition programs. All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.
