As part of our strategic growth and commitment to fostering collaboration and operational excellence, we are transitioning to a hybrid working model across North America. We are establishing offices in Austin, Boston, Chicago, Denver, New York City, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Raleigh, and Toronto to serve as key operational hubs, and we are actively seeking talented individuals to join our team in this exciting new phase.

This position is located in our Denver office. Candidates should reside within reasonable commuting distance, as this role requires on-site presence at least three days per week. This hybrid approach enables us to build a collaborative and innovative work environment while maintaining the flexibility that supports both productivity and work-life balance.

Overview: As a Sr. Director, Software Engineering at Litera, you will be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about driving innovation in the legal technology space. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools and collaborate with industry experts to deliver solutions that make a real difference in the legal profession.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the generative AI roadmap aligned with product and engineering goals

  • Lead idea inception, discovery, prototyping, and engineering of AI-driven solutions, including AI Agents and LLM-based solutions

  • Act as a creative leader, inspiring engineering teams to push the boundaries of innovation

  • Align technology initiatives to Litera One platform architecture

  • Oversee the daily activities of multiple teams to deliver impactful customer value

  • Monitor and update team metrics for measurement of engineering and operational excellence

  • Ensure a consistent, regular process for assessment of goals and improvement of deliveries

  • Collaborate with product managers on new products and new features

  • Collaborate with architects to deliver secure, scalable and performant products

  • Implement a data driven approach to drive transparency and accountability across all stakeholders

  • Identify technology improvement opportunities and gaps and develop plans to improve them

  • Think strategically with the ability to create 90, 120, 180-day plans designed along with leadership team for self and teams.

Qualifications:

  • Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s, Masters’ or equivalent experience is required

  • 10+ years of technology leadership experience

  • Demonstrated proficiency in fast-changing environments with a high level of ambiguity

  • Experience with generative AI technologies, including LLMs, MCP Servers, AI Agents, and prompt engineering

  • Strong experience working hands-on with innovation teams to deliver high quality outcomes

  • Motivated problem solver who can accurately document and communicate issues

  • Experience with full-stack software development (front end, back end, data and insights) and hands-on technical design

  • Experience leading incubation / startup style initiatives, ideally in a product-driven engineering environment

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to formulate product strategy

  • Prior experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams of engineers simultaneously working on multiple projects

  • Familiarity with DevOps CI/CD principles

  • Comfortable interacting and presenting in front of C-level executives

  • Strong understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC) with experience guiding teams through planning, development, and rollout

  • Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Azure Kubernetes / Docker, Fluent UI, TypeScript, .NET/C# and React.js

  • Proven experience with DevOps, AppSec and SRE organizations

  • Possess innate customer service skills including the ability to be empathetic, accurate, compassionate, responsive, resourceful, and conscientious

  • Strong relationship management, strategizing, project management, problem solving, and change management skills

  • Demonstrated experience delivering high-value products to market

  • Legal software experience a plus

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, or Washington residents is $185,000 to $215,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Litera offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
